Nightshot

Sony's tiny PC3 video camera features Sony's "Niteshot" function. When this is enabled the camera becomes sensitive to infra-red light. Infra-red light is invisible to humans and most animals. As a result it is possible to illuminate night time locations using light that is invisible to animals and will not disturb their nocturnal activities. The images produced by the camera look very similar to pictures shot using an image intensifier but at a fraction of the cost. Large IR (infra-red) lamps are available that can light up quite large areas as well as small portable battery operated IR lamps.
